Devils Tower National Park- The National Park service page here
As we approached Devils Tower, Heather and Aaron were crashed. We had a nice little rainstorm approaching the tower, but it was only enough to moisten the dirt caked on the van.
It did make for a couple of interesting pictures though...
Nearing the tower in Wyoming, the scenery changed a little, adding more red into the soil.

Prairie dog town approaching Devils Tower
A couple of good approach shots.
Because this is still an area sacred to the local Indian groups, there were a fair number of trees with prayer beads hung on them.
This almost captures the size of the tower.
We climbed in the boulder fields. Heather and Aaron were very good about helping each other when they got nervous. Interestingly, Aaron got scared coming down, but Heather got more nervous going up.
Tegan had no fear at all...
This is the area that the first climbers went up the mountain on wooden boards with pegs that had been jammed into the rock. Some of the original pegs and the ladders are still there and can be seen here...

Looking up at the area that has had the most recent fracture activity (hundreds or thousands of years ago estimated.)
