Big Sioux River Falls

Walking around the falls

Looking up at the larger falls

Climbing

Very impressive

Then mommy and Tegan, Heather and Aaron decided to roll down a hill near the falls.

Heather wants to know what this is.  Actually it is the support for an old aquaduct that used to run water to the power plant and mill that was located on the river.

This mill was part of an ambitious project that completely failed within 5 years of inception.  The top stories burned and the stone (very hard and durable stone that is only found in this area called Sioux quartzite) that remained was used for other projects and buildings in the area, including the city hall.
